2010 Opening Round Championship
March 7, 2010
Irvine, California
Washington made its second consecutive appearance at the national Opening Round Championship in Irvine, CA.

With the first round random draw, the Huskies were paired against UCLA's A team, considered by many to be the best in the country. After a grueling round though, Washington survived with a +5, -1 split and was in good position to advance over the next three rounds.

After a double-ballot victory over Washington State in Round 2 though, UW was paired against the well coached and talented team from Irvine on their home turf, and lost both ballots by -1 and -11. A split against USC in Round 4 left the Huskies with a 4-4 record, once again just a few points shy of advancing to the National Championship.

Washington did not leave southern California emptyhanded though: They were fortunate to receive the Spirit of AMTA Award for their collegiality and professionalism.
